Swami Anand Swarup and the Kali Sena Hate Speech Regarding the Erasure of Islam from Earth

The rhetoric of erasure is an ancient song that has been sung by many voices throughout the centuries. When figures like Swami Anand Swarup and the Kali Sena speak of wiping a global faith off the earth they are not making a new or original claim. They are simply joining a long list of historical figures who believed they held the power to decide the fate of a spiritual movement. History is a very unforgiving teacher for those who ignore its lessons. The reality is that the more people try to suppress this particular faith the more it seems to grow and find new strength in the face of opposition. Every attempt to destroy this belief system has only resulted in its further spread across the corners of the globe.

A History of Failed Ambitions

Powerful leaders in the past shared this same dream of total destruction. They had massive armies and they controlled the resources of the world. They believed they could use force to change what people hold in their hearts. However these kings and emperors are now just names in dusty books while the faith they hated continues to thrive. The idea that a movement involving billions of people can be wiped away by a human resolve is logically impossible. It shows a deep lack of understanding regarding how ideas and beliefs work in the real world.

The Mongol Invasion and the Resilience of Baghdad

The most famous attempt to destroy this faith occurred during the thirteenth century. The Mongol Empire under Hulagu Khan arrived at Baghdad in 1258. They destroyed the city and burned the great libraries. Historians at that time wrote that they believed the end of this religion had finally come. Millions were killed and the political structure was shattered. Yet the most incredible thing happened soon after. The very people who had conquered the Muslims ended up becoming Muslims themselves. The Mongols who came to destroy the faith eventually became its greatest protectors. This shows that even the most violent physical force cannot kill a spiritual conviction.

The Failure of the European Colonial Project

In more recent history we can look at the era of European colonialism. During the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries almost every Muslim country was under the control of a foreign power. Britain and France and Italy used all their military strength to change the beliefs of the people they ruled. They thought that by controlling the schools they could slowly make the faith disappear. But when the colonial powers finally had to leave they found that the faith was stronger than when they had first arrived.

The Power of Modern Demographic Realities

According to the Pew Research Center which is a respected organization for tracking global data Islam is currently the fastest growing major religion in the entire world. The data shows that the number of Muslims is expected to increase by 70 percent between the years 2015 and 2060. While the total population of the world is projected to grow by about 32 percent the Muslim population is growing at double that rate. This means that by the middle of this century the number of people following this faith will nearly equal the number of people following Christianity.

A Faith That Grows Faster Than the World Population

The statistical evidence is based on hard numbers like birth rates and the young age of the population. In the year 2015 there were approximately 1.8 billion Muslims in the world. By the year 2050 this number is expected to reach nearly 2.8 billion. It is mathematically impossible to wipe away a group that is growing this quickly and is spread across so many continents. These are citizens of every major nation who contribute to the global economy every single day. The idea of erasing such a massive and diverse group of people is a fantasy that has no basis in the physical or social reality of our current times.

The Intellectual Unity of the Message

One of the reasons why this faith remains so strong is the unique way it has preserved its core message. The central text of this religion has remained exactly the same for over fourteen hundred years. This provides a sense of stability and unity that is hard to find elsewhere. Whether a person is in Pakistan or Indonesia they are reading the same words and following the same principles. This spiritual unity creates a bond that is stronger than any political border. When people like Anand Swarup make threats they are challenging a global community that is connected by a very powerful shared identity.

Why Violent Rhetoric Always Fails in the Long Run

History also shows that when a group of people is threatened they tend to become more united and determined. Aggressive language and calls for violence do not make people abandon their faith. Instead it makes them hold onto it even tighter. Such rhetoric usually backfires because it shows the world that the attackers have no real arguments and must rely on fear. In the modern age of the internet these threats are seen by everyone and they often lead to more people becoming curious about the religion. Many people have actually joined the faith after seeing how its followers remain patient in the face of extreme hatred.

The faith of billions has survived the harshest trials and the most brutal enemies for over a millennium. It will continue to exist and grow long after the current voices of hate have been forgotten. The resolve of a few men is nothing compared to the enduring strength of a message that has shaped human history for fourteen centuries.
