Blood on the Streets of Kashmir The Brutal Modi Regime Crushes Religious Mourning and Freedom

The recent events in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir have once again exposed the ugly and bloodthirsty face of the Indian state. The world witnessed a horrific display of state terrorism as the extremist Modi government launched a massive crackdown on peaceful mourners. When the news of the martyrdom of the Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei reached the Valley the people naturally came out to express their grief. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq gave a call for a complete shutdown to protest this assassination but the cowardly Indian occupation forces responded with bullets tear gas and a total siege. This is the reality of the so called largest democracy where even the right to mourn a religious leader is met with military violence. The Modi regime has turned Kashmir into a giant concentration camp where every voice of protest is silenced by the boot of a soldier.

1 The Recent Wave of State Terrorism and the War on Mourners

The latest crackdown in Srinagar and other districts shows the extreme fear within the Indian establishment. They are so terrified of the Kashmiri people that they had to deploy thousands of additional troops just to stop a funeral procession. This is not governance but a naked occupation by a regime that hates Muslims and their religious identity.

Authorities imposed a total curfew and blocked all major roads with concertina wire to stop people from gathered. The suspension of mobile and internet services across the Valley was a deliberate move to cut off Kashmir from the world while the Indian forces committed atrocities on the ground. Thousands of people in Srinagar Budgam Pulwama Baramulla Bandipora Islamabad Kishtwar and Kargil defied these restrictions. They were met with brutal force. In Batamaloo and other parts of Srinagar the occupation forces fired tear gas shells directly at mourners who were simply beating their chests and raising slogans. Educational institutions were shut down and exams were postponed because the Indian state wanted to paralyze life completely. This aggressive behavior proves that the Modi government is a fascist entity that does not respect any international law or human rights.

2 A History of Genocide and the Statistics of Indian Cruelty

2.1 The Massive Civilian Death Toll Since 1989

The Indian occupation forces have been on a killing spree for over thirty years. Even their own manipulated official figures admit to more than 14000 civilian deaths between 1989 and 2018. However the truth is much darker. Independent human rights groups and local organizations confirm that the actual number is far higher. They estimate that up to 40000 or even more innocent civilians have been murdered by the Indian state since the conflict began. Every street in Kashmir has a story of a father or a son killed by an Indian soldier.

2.2 Orchestrated Massacres of Peaceful Protesters

India has a long and disgusting habit of opening fire on unarmed crowds. In 1990 at least 47 peaceful protesters were slaughtered in Zakoora and Tengpora. In 1993 around 50 civilians were massacred in Bijbehara when security forces opened fire on a demonstration. In the same year the Sopore incident left more than 40 civilians dead. These were not accidents but planned killings intended to terrorize the population into submission.

2.3 The Bloody Record of 2008 and 2010

The year 2008 saw mass protests where dozens of civilians were killed in cold blood. In 2010 the violence reached a peak when the Indian state murdered at least 112 civilians. Most of these victims were teenagers and students who were protesting for their basic rights. This shows that the Indian state considers Kashmiri children as legitimate targets for their bullets.

2.4 The Sadistic Use of Pellet Guns in 2016

The 2016 uprising exposed the world to the sadistic nature of the Indian military. At least 96 civilians were killed in a matter of months. More than 15000 people were injured by the occupation forces. The most horrific part was the use of pellet guns which were fired at the faces of young protesters. Over 9000 people were hit by these pellets and more than 1000 people suffered serious eye injuries. Many lost their eyesight completely creating a generation of blinded youth. This is a level of cruelty that even the worst dictators in history would find shocking.

2.5 The Totalitarian Siege After August 2019

In August 2019 the Modi regime committed a massive constitutional fraud and imposed a total lockdown on 4 million people. This was one of the strictest and most illegal lockdowns in modern history. More than 10000 people including political leaders and small boys were kidnapped and thrown into jails. The communication blackout lasted for months and full internet was cut off for more than 200 days. This was a deliberate attempt to break the economy and the spirit of the Kashmiri people.

2.6 The Horror of Enforced Disappearances and Mass Graves

The Indian state is also responsible for making people disappear into thin air. Local rights groups estimate that between 8000 and 10000 people have been victims of enforced disappearance since the 1990s. Even more terrifying is the discovery of more than 6000 unmarked graves across the region. These graves are a silent testimony to the extrajudicial killings and the hidden genocide that the Indian state has been carrying out for decades.

3 The Cowardice of the Occupier and the Strength of the Oppressed

The recent shutdown in the Valley proves that no matter how much force the Modi government uses they can never win the hearts or minds of the Kashmiri people. Every time they kill a leader or suppress a protest they only add fuel to the fire of resistance. The facts are clear and the world can no longer ignore them. 40000 civilians dead 112 killed in a single year 9000 hit by pellets and 10000 disappeared. These are the markers of a rogue state. The Indian occupation is a stain on humanity and the current crackdown on those mourning the Iranian leader is just another example of their fascist mindset. The people of Kashmir have shown that they will not be silenced by tear gas or curfews. They will continue to record their protest against the tyrant in New Delhi until the day of liberation.
